BetMates Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information BetMates ("we", "our", "the app") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. BetMates is a social app for friendly predictions and challenges between people who know each other. BetMates does not process payments, hold funds, transfer money, escrow funds, sell betting credits, or enable real-money gambling.
Information We Collect

We do not collect financial account information, do not process real-money payments, and do not use analytics or advertising trackers in the app.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account and profile
- To let you create challenges, invite friends, chat in groups, and vote on outcomes
- To send you notifications (e.g., when it's your turn to respond or vote)
- To respond to support requests and safety reports
- To keep the app secure and prevent abuse
Who We Share Information With
We use the following service providers to operate BetMates. They process data on our behalf and do not use it for their own advertising purposes:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions) — hosts your account, content, and media.
- Apple and Google Sign-In — used only if you choose to sign in with those providers.
- Expo push notification service — delivers push notifications to your device.
- ipapi.co — a third-party IP lookup service used only to suggest a default currency; only your IP address is sent, and it is not stored by us.
Other users of BetMates can see content you choose to share, such as your profile, challenges you're part of, and group chat messages. We never sell your personal information.
Your Choices and Rights
- Privacy settings: control whether your recent bets and stats are visible to others in Settings.
- Report or block: report a message or user, or block someone, at any time from the app.
- Delete your account: Settings > Delete Account permanently removes your profile and authentication account. Contact us if you need help removing specific uploaded content.
- Contact us: email jpossodeizcue@gmail.com for any privacy request, including access or deletion of your data.
Data Retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the app's features (for example, so group members can see shared challenge history). When you delete your account, we delete your profile and authentication record; some content shared with other users, such as group messages, may remain visible to other participants as part of their own history.
Children's Privacy
BetMates is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
